I first saw Johann Kloos playing guitar in a band called the Sandells , he created quite an impression , he was clearly deadly serious in his intent as he wrangled fluent but deranged noises from his instrument.
I mentally ticked a box marked ' future collaborator'.
I saw him perform sporadically over the next couple of years both solo and as part of collectives , he was always interesting , I heard tracks he'd recorded over the years , again interesting , I spoke to him about music , we had a shared taste in the sadly overlooked ' Len Bright Combo'
I asked ' do you fancy doing a couple of tracks with me? '' yes' he replied ,, so we did the deed , with a minimum of fuss and a good deal of satisfaction ,
I chose two lyrics concerned with two very singular talents , and tried to capture something of the essence of both William Burroughs and Gene Clark , I left the vocal tracks you hear recorded over a simple drum track with Johann to interpret as he saw fit , and to create a musical accompaniment , I was stunned when I heard what he'd done , it was as if he had access to my thoughts , so in simpatico was what he'd produced , it's been a pleasurable experience for me , and I hope for Johann too,
Lend us your ears,,,,
